I have yet to meet someone who didn’t like Oreos, which means they’re a pretty good choice for a universally liked dessert! Serve a plate of these Oreo truffles with these Christmas tree brownies, some chewy molasses cookies, a mini loaf of cranberry orange bread, and you’ve got one yummy holiday treat plate! I have a yummy Oreo cheesecake recipe that I’ll be sharing soon but for today, it’s all about these delicious Oreo truffles. Oreo balls, Oreo truffles – they’re the same thing in our kitchen! Oreo filling wrapped in chocolate, topped with sprinkles or swirls. They’re sweet and delicious. But honestly my favorite thing about this recipe is how simple it is to make. There’s a reason they’re one of my favorite no bake desserts for kids – kids can help make them! They use just three ingredients plus whatever you want to top the Oreo truffles with. In this case, I went with Christmas Oreo truffles with some Christmas sprinkles. Three ingredients, five minutes, and you’re enjoying yummy Oreo dessert. If you want another simple Oreo dessert, these cookie dough Oreo brownies are another favorite!

Ingredient Notes
Oreos – the type of Oreos you use for these Oreo truffles matters. If you want just regular Oreo truffles, use regular Oreos or any Oreos (I used leftover Halloween Oreos) that don’t have flavored cream. If you want to add some flavor to the Oreos to change up the truffle flavor, use Oreos with flavored cream. I have some variation options later on the post! Chocolate chips – chocolate chips, almond bark, or any other melting chocolate works for this. I prefer milk chocolate but you can also use semi-sweet if that’s what you have on hand. Cream cheese – this needs to be at room temperature and softened so that it’ll mix with the Oreos easily. If it’s cold, you’ll end up with tiny chunks of cream cheese instead of a smooth truffle filling.
Instructions
Begin by removing the filling from the Oreos. This will help the mixture all combine with a better consistency than if you left the Oreos all together with the filling in the middle. Place the cream cheese, Oreo cookies, and Oreo filling in a food processor. You can also do this separately where you pulse the Oreo cookie crumbs first, but I like fast so I just do it all together. Pulse until everything is well combined. It’ll be a thick spoonable mixture that shouldn’t have any chunks of cream cheese, Oreo cookies, or filling. Next, roll the mixture into 1″ balls. You can use a 1 tablespoon cookie scoop to help make sure they are all the same size. Put truffle balls on baking sheet and refrigerate for 10 minutes. While the truffle balls are chilling melt your chocolate chips. You can either melt the chocolate chips in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring between each interval, until completely melted. Or you can double boil the chocolate like I did with these chocolate turkey treats. Take the truffle balls out of the refrigerator and dip each one into the melted chocolate. When you remove the truffle from the melted chocolate make sure you allow any excess chocolate to drip off. Place truffle on a parchment lined baking sheet to keep the chocolate from sticking. Keep dipping until you’ve finished dipping all of the Oreo truffles. Space them out slightly on the parchment paper so they don’t end up stuck together, but they don’t need a ton of space. While the chocolate is still wet, add sprinkles if you want to make these Christmas Oreo truffles. Or you could also do swirls of white chocolate, caramel, or really anything you want! I’ve got a number of variation ideas below you could try as well! Place the truffles in the fridge and allow the chocolate to chill and harden for at least 15 minutes (or until it’s no longer sticky to the touch) before eating.
Flavor Variations
Want to mix it up and try out different flavor combinations? Here are some other Oreo truffles that I love! You always want to use cream cheese and chocolate but switch out the type of Oreo and topping for these fun options!
Peppermint Oreo Truffles – use mint Oreos and add crushed up candy canes or peppermint candies on topFunfetti Oreo Truffles – use birthday Oreos and add rainbow sprinkles on top Peanut Butter Oreo Truffles – use Peanut Butter Oreos and add chopped up peanuts on top Dark chocolate sea salt Oreo Truffles – use dark chocolate Oreos, dark chocolate chips, and add large flakes of sea salt on topTriple Chocolate Oreo Truffles – use chocolate Oreos and top with chocolate drizzle and grated or flaked chocolate chunks
Expert Tips
Cream cheese must be at room temperature or it will be very difficult to mix. Take it out of the fridge at least 30 minutes before you want to make these. If you forget and have to make them last minute, microwave the cream cheese for 10-15 seconds. Any chocolate chips will work in this recipe. I used milk chocolate, but dark, white, or semi-sweet would also be delicious. To make truffles set faster, place in the fridge to chill. Also make sure to store them in the fridge since they have cream cheese in the filling! Use a small cookie scoop to scoop the filling to keep the ball size consistent. It really doesn’t matter that much but if you want them all consistent, a cookie scoop can help. Shake lightly the Oreo truffles after dipping in chocolate to allow the excess chocolate to run off. This will help your chocolate go further plus prevent huge clumps of chocolate on the balls.
